The Hospital Nutrition of the Srebrnjak Children’s Hospital is responsible for preparing appropriate and healthy food for hospital patients.
Menus are adapted to the needs of each individual paptient, offering standard meals for infants, preschool children and adolescents without foodstuff allergies, and specific menus for patients suffering from atopic dermatitis, celiac disease, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, gastric and hepatic diseases, etc. Individual meals, in accordance with specific diagnoses, are also created in collaboration with physicians and attending nurses.
A trained nutritionist is responsible for the education of patients and their parents regarding nutritional issues, keeping them informed on how to continue with an appropriate nutrition regimen at home.
Hospital nutrition, at the request of individual hospital departments, is preparing oral double-blind placebo-controlled provocation tests on certain foods according to designated protocols.
